Eligibility Requirements for Deakin Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence

  • TOEFL Marks - 79/120, Minimum 21 in the writing section
  • PTE Marks - 58/90, No less than 50 in each skill
  • IELTS Marks - 6.5/9, with no band score of less than 6.0
  • Admission to study postgraduate coursework at Deakin is based on your professional experience and previous academic qualifications.
  • Depending on your prior experience, your course will be:
    • 1 year full-time (2 years part-time) – 8 credit points
    • 1.5 years full-time (3 years part-time) – 12 credit points
    • 2 years full-time (4 years part-time) – 16 credit points
  • ELP requirements can be waived off if applicants study at an institution within a non-English speaking country, but where English is the language of instruction and assessment for the whole institution, completed no more than 5 years before enrolment at Deakin has successfully completed 2 academic years of full-time study at a Bachelor degree level equivalent or higher, with a minimum WAM of 55.

Deakin Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence Program Description

The Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence is typically 8, 12, or 16 credit points. The student's exact number of credit points depends on how much credit they receive as recognition of prior learning (RPL) - their professional experience and previous qualifications. Artificial intelligence is driving digital disruption, with new technology helping redefine many industries. Many companies are looking to take advantage of recent advances in artificial intelligence, creating a significant demand for skilled professionals. The Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence will develop an understanding of state of art in artificial intelligence, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and applying these algorithms in computer vision and speech processing. Students will explore the complexities of introducing AI solutions in a human context, both from a conceptual and ethical perspective and an engineering perspective. This course is available to be completed in 3 durations based on the credit points earned by the student, the description of which is provided in the eligibility section.

SIT764 and SIT782 must be taken by students in back-to-back trimesters. If a student is unable to finish SIT764 and SIT782 in order, they should consult the unit chair for guidance.
