You can take the GMAT up to five times in a 12-month period and up to eight times in total in your lifetime. You must wait at least 16 days between each attempt.
Most students don’t need that many tries. In fact, many improve their scores with just one or two retakes especially if they review their mistakes and change their prep strategy.
Also schools usually focus on your highest score, not how many times you took the test so don’t worry too much if you’re learning and improving, that’s what really counts.
