There are ways that you can avoid IELTS, though I won’t recommend it. See, the way it is, you need a certain score in IELTS to get admitted in foreign universities. But this is not everything. Like you can get into a top university with a slightly lower score. Yes, it's possible as there are other things on your profile other than a test score.

So even if you score a little less, you can manage it. You will only be required to score at least an IELTS  6.0 band. That is not an impressive target to achieve, believe me. Just attempt the exam once more if you have low scores. As I mentioned, you can add things to your profile to make it impressive. Things like work-experience, certifications, curriculars, community involvement etc.

However, there are a number of universities that don't require an IELTS score or, really, any score on a language test. The UK is the nation with the most universities falling under this category. Here is a list of UK universities that have waived this requirement:

UK

  • University of Bath
  • University of Manchester
  • King's College London
  • Cardiff University
  • University of Liverpool
  • Lancaster University
  • University of Strathclyde
  • University of Birmingham
  • University of East Anglia
  • Newcastle University London

Lastly, if your previous academic background was in English only and you received a respectably good grade in the language subject, certain colleges will also waive the English language exam requirement. For instance, if English was your primary subject up through class 12 and you had an easy 75%, and even if you are studying English exclusively for your bachelor's degree, you may be exempt from taking a language test. This point is dependent on your profile and the university to which you apply because criteria differ between institutions and depend heavily on the applicant's profile.

Let me know if this is helpful and if you need any more information from my end.

There are several universities in the UK that offer admission without requiring IELTS scores. These institutions may accept alternative English language qualifications or consider other factors such as your previous education in English. Here are some universities you might consider:

University of Bristol - Offers conditional admissions based on English proficiency determined by other criteria, such as prior education conducted in English.
University of Bolton - Accepts alternative proofs of English proficiency like TOEFL, PTE, or previous education in English.
London Southbank University - Provides options to demonstrate English proficiency through means other than IELTS, including Cambridge English and Pearson Tests.
Northumbria University - May waive IELTS requirements if you have completed a degree in English or have professional experience in an English-speaking environment.
University of Portsmouth - Also accepts other tests like Cambridge Advanced and proficiency, or may consider the medium of instruction in your previous study.
Robert Gordon University - Often accepts students who have pursued their education in English-medium institutions.
University of Greenwich - Allows applicants to prove their English proficiency through various means, depending on their background and previous education.
It's important to contact each university directly or visit their official websites for specific details about their admission processes and the alternative English language requirements they accept. This can help ensure that you meet all necessary criteria for admission.

Alternative Proof of English Proficiency

If you want to apply to a UK university without an IELTS score, you might consider these alternatives:

  • Other English Tests: Some universities accept other standardized tests like TOEFL, PTE Academic, or Cambridge English tests.
  • University-Specific Tests: Some universities have their own English language tests that you can take instead of IELTS.

Steps to Apply

  • Check University Requirements: Visit the official websites of the universities you are interested in to confirm their specific English language requirements.
  • Prepare Documentation: Gather documents that can prove your proficiency in English, such as certificates from previous education or scores from other standardized tests.
  • Contact Admissions Offices: If you are unsure, contact the admissions offices directly to inquire about alternative requirements for English proficiency.
