Do the 12th marks affect admission chances?

Not really. If you are opting for your masters, the thing you need to worry about is your bachelor’s GPA and not your class 12th marks.

Although if you are looking to apply for UG abroad, then your class 12th marks would matter.

So let me know what programme do you exactly wish to apply for and I shall help you with relevant information.

Related Is an MBA worth it after a Master’s in Data Science from Canada or Australia?

Hi A.K.,

Pursuing an MBA after a
Master’s in Data Science from Canada or Australia can be worth it, depending on your career goals. Here are some reasons why:

  • Management Roles: An MBA degree can open up management roles such as Data Science Manager, CTO, or Product Manager, which is not possible with a Data Science degree.
  • Broader Skill Set: A Master’s in Data Science provides technical skills while an MBA equips you with skills in business strategy, marketing, finance, and management.
  • Higher Salary Potential: An MBA with a Master’s in Data Science degree can lead to higher-paying job opportunities, especially in senior positions.
  • Networking Opportunities: An MBA can expand your professional network, connecting you with peers and industry leaders, which can be valuable for career growth.

However, if your primary interest lies in technical roles, an MBA might not be the right choice. Pursuing an MBA after a Master's in Data Science can be a valuable step if you're aiming for leadership roles and a broader skill set. A study abroad expert can assist you in this journey by offering guidance on selecting the right programs, handling applications, providing financial options, and more.

Related What GPA do I need to get into Stanford’s MS in Computer Science?

Ideally, for Stanford's MS in Computer Science, which is a very competitive program, one should aim for a GPA of 3.7 or above on a 4.0 scale. Stanford MS&E looks for applicants who have good academic records; therefore, a higher GPA definitely strengthens your application, but they do not have a strict minimum GPA requirement. They review the applications as a whole and consider work experiences, research projects, submission of GRE scores, a couple of recommendation letters, and a personal statement of purpose.

If you have good marks, less than a little below 3.7 GPA, your chances might improve significantly. This can increase your possibilities if you show strong achievement in other fields like research interest and related work experience or published articles. Do not forget that Stanford values students who demonstrate different problem-solving skills with full commitment towards their fields.
