EduShastra : Known for CAT 100-percentilers among its faculty. Offers personalized preparation which making it a great coaching choice for students looking for a more flexible and structured CAT preparation approach.
Some Important Points to Consider:
1. Right Batch Size:Ideally, a batch should have around 10-40 students. Both teacher interaction and peer learning are important parts of classroom learning, so the batch should be neither too crowded nor too small. An optimal batch size allows students to benefit from both.
2. Time-Based vs Ability-Based Model:Most coaching institutes follow a time-bound model, where the course has a fixed syllabus, schedule, starting date and ending date. Classes and tests are generally planned according to this predefined timeline.
EduShastra, on the other hand, follows an ability-based model. The course is divided into 4-5 levels and students move to the next level only after achieving the required score in the current one. This allows students to progress according to their individual level and ability.
3. Fixed Classes vs Flexible Course Duration:Most institutes provide a fixed number of classes and tests because their courses operate on a time-based schedule. In an ability-based system, students can continue learning and practising until they reach the required level of proficiency.
4. Course Structure & Teaching Approach:Don't look only at the number of toppers an institute showcases. Pay attention to the actual course structure, teaching methodology, practice material and how the learning process is designed. Past results are useful but they should not be the only factor when comparing institutes.
5. Success Rate:This is another factor worth checking. Instead of only looking at the number of successful students, try to understand the percentage of successful students compared with the total number of enrolled students. This gives you a better idea of the institute's overall outcome.
6. Mocks & Sectional Tests:Regular mocks and sectional tests are an important part of CAT preparation. Adaptive testing, which is commonly used in GMAT preparation, can also be useful for identifying a student's level and weaknesses. EduShastra uses AI-based adaptive tests along with computer-based CAT tests and computer-adaptive GMAT tests. Their testing continues until a student's performance starts to stagnate, helping identify areas that need more work.
7. Faculty:Before enrolling, check who will actually be teaching you. Look at the faculty's qualifications, experience and subject expertise. It is also important to know how accessible the teachers are for doubt-solving and guidance outside regular classes.
