Which is better: an MBA or an MIM?
Asked by Anil Rajak almost 2 years ago
Hello. Looking at MBA and MIM comparison, it won’t come as a surprise. Because most of the points are already circulated and everyone is familiar. So, I’ll try to focus on more important details. Things like, which is better where, why it is better and finally how much you can earn with both degrees. Because these things make a real difference.
1. Which is better where?
See the first thing here is MBA and MIM relevance. Like which degree is good where. I can easily state that MBA is better overall and it will be as true as it is. But you as well as I know that even a diamond is not perfect in every case. Similarly in European core management areas, a MIM degree may be considered above and MBA. Also, MIM courses are filled with theoretical knowledge and in-depth teaching topics. So, it is better for given roles in different areas of specialization.
2. Why is it better?
You can say that an MBA degree is more worthwhile in general. Not just because it has a bigger impact, but also because it is relevant in more areas. An MBA curriculum includes practical knowledge in core business subjects. So when you apply for a business and management job, MIM will seem inferior to an MBA. Same way, MIM will be better if you are aiming for a managerial role in specialized areas.
So an MBA is better because it has a core understanding of business areas. While MIM is better because it has in-depth theoretical knowledge in specific areas.
3. How much MBA and MIM pays?
Till now you already know that MBA has more value, so obviously it pays more. When it comes to how much it pays, the difference can be big. Like I have seen top b schools MBA graduates earning above $130,000 in countries like the USA and UK. It is equivalent to around one crore annually. That’s a big number.
For MIM graduates, the average earning goes around 40-50 lakhs. This number is from the best places for MIM careers; countries like the UK, France, USA, Canada etc. You can clearly see the difference. Basically with an MBA degree you can expect a double income compared to MIM.
MIM degrees are still in development as it is not quite rooted in every country. But the places where MIM degrees are common are the ones you have to find. Some European countries can be very good for a business career and lifestyle. And here a MIM would be a better option.
What do you think? Is it enough to make a decision or just some random information? If you want to know more, let me know which aspect I can explain. It's good if you know these things in advance, otherwise selecting an abroad program can be complex.
