Some topics might look scary at first, but in reality, a few core areas show up again and again across nearly every GRE Quant section.
&bull; Word Problems (work-rate, time-speed-distance, mixtures) make up a large chunk. Most of them test setup, not advanced math. &bull; Percentages, Ratios, and Fractions show up not only directly but also inside Data Interpretation questions. &bull; Algebra (especially linear equations and inequalities) forms the backbone of many word-based problems. &bull; Number Properties&mdash;like even/odd rules, factors, and remainders&mdash;are common in both Problem Solving and Quantitative Comparison. &bull; Geometry is limited&mdash;mostly lines, angles, triangles, and circles. No 3D or proofs.
Probability, Permutation, and Combination sound tough but rarely appear more than once. Focus more on accuracy and speed in the frequent topics&mdash;most high scorers do just that.

Number Properties (LCM, GCD, remainders, parity) shows up consistently, and mastering it helps in both easy and trap-heavy questions. Algebra isn&rsquo;t just about solving equations&mdash;it includes expressions, inequalities, and coordinate geometry basics. Word Problems often blend topics like ratios, percentages, speed-distance-time, and work-rate&mdash;all high-frequency areas that test logical setup more than calculation.
Geometry has fewer questions compared to other sections but is still worth reviewing&mdash;especially triangles, circles, and coordinate geometry. Combinatorics, Probability, and Data Interpretation appear less frequently but are often medium-difficulty and can be scoring if practiced well.
Spending extra time on Arithmetic and Algebra usually gives the biggest return for anyone aiming for 160+.
