While I was looking for the post-grad options after a data science masters, I found some surprising facts. So when I see questions like which data science careers you should target, it intrigues me. Did you know that US firms/companies spend like 2-3 billion dollars just for hiring good data science graduates every year? Just like this, other countries like the UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, Singapore and many more are involved similarly.

Basically, the first thing you need to know is that data science is a location-dependent profession. Even with a top-tier degree by your side, working in a less prosperous location can diminish your return on investment (ROI). This is why countries like the USA, UK and Canada are widely popular for data science jobs and careers. When choosing a career in data science keep the country and location in mind.

Coming back to the main focus, data science careers. The first ones that come to mind are a data scientists and data analytics. These two are the core professions in data science. You can pursue a career as a data scientist and data analytics with almost any specialization in the subject. The professionals in these two major careers earn around $100,000. With given qualifications and experience, the numbers can reach upto $150,000 (1.15 crore annually) or more as well. Of course, this is for the prime locations like New York, London, Toronto etc.

Data architecture and data engineering are also one of the top professions in data science. These two are specifically for the students that are already interested in pursuing these careers. For example, engineering aspirants prefer to complete a data science master's and work as a data engineers. These fields are highly lucrative and very much valued at good locations. The annual incomes of a quality data architect or engineer are almost the same, somewhere around $70-100k (55-75 lakhs).

Machine learning and business intelligence analytics are yet some other top-tier careers in data science. Machine learning is a very integral pet of data science. You can not complete a master's degree in data science without learning machine learning. You can literally find thousands of jobs in machine learning. Business intelligence analytics is however not so popular in every part of the world. However, at major locations, business intelligence analysts are paid handsomely.

If you're a data science aspirant, these six professions are a game-changer for you. Data science is already the most popular subject now, it’s only going to get more relevant in future. I suggest you choose a good data science master's program at a top university abroad. It will grant you access to work in the most amazing locations in data science. If you need some information to proceed just let me know. Hope this clears doubts on data science.
