The GPA is one of the most important things that institutions consider when evaluating your prior academic success. Therefore, CGPA is one of the areas on which you should focus your efforts.

USA and Germany are the leading countries for MS programs.

Regarding academic profiles in the USA, a CGPA of 7.5–8.0 and a GRE score of 315–320 are always recommended to be accepted into top universities for MS programs in science and technology.

The minimum CGPA required to do an MS in Germany is 7 or 70%. However, if you want admission to a world-class university, you need the best score in IELTS, and your CGPA must be around 8.5.

There are additional requirements based on the course and institution you choose. For instance, some may require a GPA of 4.0 or equal, while others need a minimum of 60% in your undergraduate degree. A good score in English-language proficiency tests such as IELTS is also important.

To be considered for admission to a Master's, e.g., MSc, MRes, MBA, etc., applicants should have completed the first degree with a minimum cumulative GPA score of 78% or 3.1+/4 from a mainstream university. However, most of our courses normally require a higher overall GPA.

In advising on the best locations for an MS in Data Science, I often recommend the United States and germany. These countries host institutions that blend academic excellence with professional development opportunities.

USA University

Lead with forward-thinking data science programs that provide comprehensive statistical and computational training, focusing on practical, real-world applications.

Alternatively, Germany

Presents a cost-effective option without compromising on quality. The Technical University of Munich and RWTH Aachen are prominent for their tech-oriented programs and strong industry ties, crucial for a practical education in data science.

Considering a CGPA of 7.5, while top-tier US universities may be competitive, institutions like the University of Illinois at Chicago and Northeastern University look beyond GPA, evaluating holistic applications that include strong statements of purpose, letters of recommendation, and relevant experiences. In Germany, your academic score is part of a broader assessment, which also considers your practical skills and exam results.
