Cumulative Grade Point Average or CGPA is the mean average of GPA grades that you have obtained at Thapar university for the entire duration of the course. To measure the CGPA of a student, the GPA (Grade Point Average) of a student in all semesters are added and divided by the sum of his total credit hours.

Candidates would require good GPA scores to get a high CGPA score. While most universities require candidates to submit their scores on a 10-point CGPA scale, some universities ask candidates to put forward their scores in the 4-point GPA scale format.

You can use the formula provided below to convert 10 point CGPA to 4 point GPA: if the statement of marks provided by the university says you have got a CGPA of 7.0 and your batch topper’s CGPA is 8.0, then you can calculate your score as:

(7.0/8.0) X 4 = 3.5

Converting a 7.5 CGPA from a 10-point scale (like that from Thapar Engineering College in India) to a 4-point GPA scale typically results in approximately a 3.0 GPA. This conversion is done by multiplying the CGPA by 0.4.

It’s important for students applying internationally to understand this, as different universities may have their own specific conversion standards. Always confirm with the target university to ensure your GPA is presented correctly and meets admission requirements.
