To get 600+ on GMAT, it’s really about finding the right balance between Quant and Verbal, especially if Quant is weaker.

If your Quant is around Q35-38, you’ll generally need Verbal in the V30-34 range to cross 600. If Quant stays lower, say Q32, Verbal needs to reach V36+ to compensate.

For Quant, focus on core topics: arithmetic, percentages, word problems, number properties, and algebra basics. Mastering these can push Quant into the low-mid 30s.

On Verbal, double down on Sentence Correction and Critical Reasoning. These are skill-based and improve faster with practice. Focus on spotting grammar patterns, common traps, and argument structures. Official GMAT Focus questions are your best resource here, since they mirror the exact logic and style you'll face on test day.

There’s no perfect formula, but if Quant is your weak spot, your Verbal has to do more work to pull you over 600.

  • For Q33-35, aim for V34-36. If Quant stays at Q30-32, Verbal needs to reach V37-39.
  • Below Q30 makes 600 tougher, unless Verbal is very high (V40+), which isn’t easy.
  • Since time is limited, don’t try to study every Quant topic. Prioritize: percentages, ratios, inequalities, simple algebra, and word problems. Skip things like combinatorics, standard deviation, and complex geometry.
  • On Verbal, increase reading comprehension practice. Most people overlook it, but RC often makes the difference when aiming for V36+. Practice reading passages daily, focus on main idea questions, and learn to eliminate extreme answer choices.
  • Use full-length GMAT Focus mocks every 5-7 days. Review both correct and incorrect answers — even lucky guesses — so you're fully aware of where your real score stands before test day.
