What scholarships are available for Indian students studying in the USA?

There are many scholarships provided to Indian students who plan to study in the USA both from American universities and from outside institutions. There are numerous US universities with merit-based scholarships; an example of such a scholarship is the Fulbright-Nehru Master's Fellowship scholarship, which especially caters to Indian students for acquiring a master's degree in the USA. It also covers tuition fees, cost of living, and all the other expenses involved in its package, thus one of the most desired scholarship plans. Another scholarship that is known is Tata Scholarship at Cornell University targeted at undergraduate Indian students from financially restricted backgrounds.

There are also several organizations outside offering specific Indian students scholarships. Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation gives scholarships to a couple of fields, post-graduate education in universities of USA to fine arts, to law, and some few other fields. Of importance are private organizations giving partial assistance to some of the meritorious needy Indian students from private firms. This is in particular for JN Tata Endowment.
