GRE Analytical Writing now includes only the Issue Task, which asks you to take a position on a broad statement related to education, technology, government, ethics, or social change.
There&rsquo;s no &ldquo;correct&rdquo; side. Choose the position that&rsquo;s easier to support with examples and clear reasoning. Even if the opinion feels obvious, what matters is how well it&rsquo;s defended. The scorers look for structure, coherence, and logical flow, not for fancy vocabulary or extreme opinions.
Use a simple structure: intro with your opinion, , two to three body paragraphs with examples, and a short conclusion. It's okay to acknowledge the other side briefly, but stay focused on supporting your main argument.
ETS has a pool of official Issue prompts, practicing 4&ndash;5 of those and outlining responses can make a big difference in both speed and clarity.
