GRE is an academic ability test and IELTS is a language proficiency test. Both these tests aim to judge your ability in different areas. To prepare for GRE, here are the best books you can target: 

1. Kaplan GRE Prep Plus 2022

Pros:

Comes with lots of online supplementary materials.

Two full-length practice tests

The online practice tests are similar to the official computer-based GRE test.

Gives techniques in approaching difficult questions

Cons:

Recent editions have fewer online materials.


2. Manhattan 5lb. Book GRE Practice Problems

Pros:

Includes 1,800+ practice problems.

Comes with online learning modules

Perfect for daily practice and preparation.

Cons:

No indication of question difficulty


3. ETS GRE Prep Book: The Official Guide

Pros:

Has the most authentic questions

Comes with the GRE PowerPrep software from ETS

Two online GRE practice tests are computer-adaptive

Cons:

The 3rd edition is almost identical to the 2nd edition.

Doesn’t provide many test-taking strategies

It goes into a lot of detail

Cons- Not ideal for complete beginners
