If you're planning to apply to the ESSEC Global MBA, knowing the average GMAT score can help you understand where you stand. The school shares that the average GMAT Focus score for the current class is around 615.

In past years, average scores were a bit higher—usually around 680 to 690. But don’t worry if your score is not exactly in that range. ESSEC looks at your full profile, not just your test score.

They check your work experience, your leadership skills, and how well you fit the program. A strong GMAT score helps, but it’s not the only thing that matters.

If your GMAT is a bit low, focus on making the rest of your application strong—write good essays, get good recommendations, and clearly show your goals. That can really make a difference.

The average GMAT Focus edition score for this year's class is 615. However, if you look at the previous years then the average GMAT score has been higher, around 680 to 690.

Keep in mind, ESSEC evaluates applications holistically, so while a strong GMAT score is important, they also consider factors like your work experience, leadership qualities, and personal achievements.

ESSEC doesn’t have a fixed GMAT score that you must hit, but based on past intakes, the average tends to be around 615–620. In some years, especially for applicants from more competitive backgrounds like India, the average can go higher—closer to 670 or more.

That said, ESSEC looks at more than just your test scores. If your work history, goals, and essays are strong, you can still get in with a score that’s a bit lower. They also accept other tests if you’re not planning to take the GMAT. So your chances really depend on your full profile, not just one number.

The average GMAT score for the ESSEC Global MBA is usually around 615, but this isn’t a strict requirement. The school reviews your full application, so things like your work experience, academic background, and motivation for doing the MBA also carry a lot of weight. Even if your GMAT is below that average, you can still be considered if the rest of your profile is strong.

Also, ESSEC gives you the option to apply with other test scores like GRE, Executive Assessment, or even the TAGE-MAGE. (For reference, a GRE score in the 310–320 range is generally seen as competitive.) You can also apply without a test and submit your score later if needed. So, while GMAT helps, it’s not a dealbreaker.
