If you're just starting with GMAT prep, the best thing you can do is create a plan that works for you. Everyone has a different timeline and learning style, so try not to copy someone else’s approach completely.

Start with a full-length practice test. It will help you understand the structure of the exam and where you stand right now. Once you know your weak spots, you can focus more time there. Break your prep into daily or weekly goals — nothing too overwhelming, just enough to keep moving.

Stick to official study materials when possible. The GMAT Official Guide and the free mock tests on MBA.com are a great place to begin. They reflect the real exam closely and help you get used to the question style. Don’t forget to track your mistakes — reviewing what you got wrong is where real learning happens.

Lastly, take care of your mindset. It’s normal to feel stuck sometimes, but stay consistent. Even 2–3 focused hours a day can make a big difference. The GMAT is not just about how smart you are — it’s about how well you prepare. Keep your routine simple, stay calm, and trust the process. You’ve got this.
