Sometimes things get very tense when you are sitting for an important interview, and you can’t remember things. Sometimes, the pressure and the nervousness get so built up that you forget your lines and answer the questions abruptly. The worst is when you remember answers after you reach home. I am saying this because this has happened to me.

That is why it becomes very important that you prepare things straight beforehand. There are a few important topics that you need to be aware of before you apply for any data science role. But there is one thing that you need to be aware of, and that is that data science is a very vast domain. Therefore I am already informing you that this by no means is an exhaustive list. There are many more things in this field that cannot be covered in a single answer. Think of this as a first step so that you can get some help in the beginning with your preparations.

So let’s begin with some basic things that you need to be aware of, and these are the ones that are the simplest ones; still, many people do not do it correctly. You must be proficient with the most basic things and improve your fundamental knowledge. These are a few fundamentals that you need to be well aware of :

  • Business Understanding
  • SQL and Databases, this is a very crucial part
  • Programming Skills such as Python, but if you know Scala, then it is the cherry on the cake
  • Data Structure and Algorithms,
  • Communications Skills
  • Domain Understanding

These were a few things that you need to be well aware of. Now let’s talk about the 20 most frequently asked data science interview questions:-

  1. What is Data Science? List the differences between supervised and unsupervised learning.
  2. What is Selection Bias?
  3. What is a confusion matrix?
  4. Describe Markov chains?
  5. Why R is used in Data Visualization?
  6. What is the ROC curve?
  7. What is the difference between a box plot and a histogram?
  8. Walkthrough the probability fundamentals
  9. Write the equation and calculate the precision and recall rate.
  10. What is correlation and covariance in statistics?
  11. What is the goal of A/B Testing?
  12. In any 15-minute interval, there is a 20% probability that you will see at least one shooting star. What is the probability that you see at least one shooting star in the period of an hour?
