There are actual universities in the USA which you can get in without an IELTS test score. I have come across many universities like these ones while going through computer and engineering courses in the USA. But I'm really sorry to inform you that there is absolutely no way to avoid any kind of a language test.

What I mean to say is that you can get into USA universities without IELTS, provided that you take their own designed language proficiency test. Take these universities for example -

1. Rice University
2. California State University
3. State University of New York
4. University of Iowa
5. University of Delaware

These universities in the USA allow students to apply without an IELTS or any kind of language proficiency test score. There are more universities like these, but I think you get the idea with these many names. The thing is that they do ask you to undertake an Intensive English Language Program (IELP). It is basically a kind of language test program that is used by many universities in the USA. So if you somehow escape IELTS, there is one more thing waiting for you.

My recommendation would be to attempt IELTS after some preparation. Even if it takes time to clear, it's worth it. Because without it, you are left with fewer opinions. If you have an IELTS test score by your side, you can browse from hundreds of USA based universities that offer all kinds of courses. It's pretty straightforward. Plus, it's not like you have to score a 9.0 band to get into the best universities there. A minimum of 6.0 is also manageable, given that you should always aim for higher.

Try the official IELTS Guide by their official developers; Cambridge Assessment English. You can get that for free, and it doesn't take long to prepare for the test. Let me know what the actual problem here is, like is your IELTS test score low or you just don't want to attempt it?
