What should I do for MTech in India or MS abroad?

Well it depends. I always recommend an MS over MTech. Given that you have resources for that. It's not a question of which is better, it is about what both of them give. If you are comfortable with good career possibilities an MTech is more than enough. But doing an MS from abroad will not only give better chances but advantages later in your career. Let me explain.

Suppose you are comfortable with your job in future. But what about new developments or say you would like to switch your career abroad? In that case you will start with an MS degree. Because believe it so, it requires certain qualifications for an international job. Even for PhDs, Indian students do an MS after their masters here. So it may not seem as important now, but surely will.

It's not just your future career plans, it's about current ones too. When you graduate from your masters, you expect a high salary right? The average salary of MS graduates in the USA from top universities is in six figures. Not to mention it's more familiar with the global economy. The curriculums are designed to fit demanding jobs. You will have better job possibilities in all corners of the world (compared to an MTech).

If that's not enough to convince you, how about the options you get after graduation? If it's just a matter of which one is better, what would you prefer, a career limited in country or on a global scale? An MS in a tech course will give you access to international organizations, and plus better chances in India. It is more recognized than an MTech degree. And if you are looking to settle abroad then it's not even a debate.

So instead of doing an MTech now and desiring for more in future, get to MS now. I know it does cost a lot and requires certain preparations. But even an average pay after MS  graduation can cover your all investment in 3-4 years max. It's only logical. If you have enough resources and time to prepare for tests and documents, I strongly suggest doing an MS over an MTech.

In any case if you want to find out more, share your profile with us. We can evaluate your records and tell you what MS is best for you instead of an MTech. Because without your qualification details, it makes no sense suggesting any MS abroad programs.
