The GMAT isn&rsquo;t harder than before, but it has changed a bit. The new GMAT Focus Edition is shorter. It doesn&rsquo;t have the essay section or sentence correction questions anymore.
But now, because there are fewer questions, each one matters more. If you get something wrong, it can affect your score a little more than before. That&rsquo;s why some people feel it&rsquo;s tougher, even if the topics are the same.
The level of questions still depends on how you perform. If you do well, the questions get harder,this has always been part of the GMAT.
So, it&rsquo;s not really hard, it just needs smart planning and regular practice. If you stay focused and understand the format, you&rsquo;ll be fine.

GMAT isn&rsquo;t exactly getting harder, but it has changed. The test now follows a new format called the GMAT Focus Edition, as introduced by the official GMAC body. It&rsquo;s shorter&mdash;2 hours and 15 minutes&mdash;and focuses more on real-world business reasoning than on tough math puzzles.
Some older sections have been removed. For example, the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) and Sentence Correction questions are no longer part of the new test. A new section called Data Insights has been added, which mixes charts, logic, and data interpretation&mdash;all skills used in business school.
The scoring range has also changed. Instead of the old 200&ndash;800 scale, the GMAT Focus now uses a 205&ndash;805 scale. This doesn&rsquo;t mean the test is easier or harder&mdash;it just means you&rsquo;ll need to practice in a different way. Recent updates from the official GMAT website show that the GMAT is not getting harder, but it has changed. In 2023, GMAC introduced a new version called the GMAT Focus Edition. This version is shorter&mdash;2 hours 15 minutes, down from the previous 3 hours&mdash;and has fewer sections.
You no longer need to prepare for the Essay (AWA) or Geometry-heavy questions. Instead, the Focus Edition includes Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and a new Data Insights section. While some students feel Data Insights adds complexity, others find the shorter test format easier to manage.
Scoring has also changed. The GMAT Focus score range is now 205&ndash;805, and you&rsquo;ll see fewer traditional math puzzles. However, questions are still adaptive and test your logic under pressure&mdash;so preparation is still very important.
