Is LBS better than INSEAD MiM for getting consulting jobs in London?

Question

I'm not fixed on working in London, but it would be great to start my career in an international setup. I’ve been comparing LBS and INSEAD MiM, especially for MBB/Tier 2 consulting. From what I’ve seen in employment reports, both place decently, but is LBS actually better when it comes to London recruiting?
Also, considering how tough MBB London is with so many Oxbridge grads, would both give me the same shot, or is Tier 2 more realistic?

If the goal is consulting in London, being based there during recruitment season really changes the game.

LBS students can attend firm events in person, set up coffee chats with alumni already working in London offices, and take part in consulting case prep groups that are often led by recent hires.
INSEAD MiM has global reach but its recruiting is more spread out. London firms visit, but you&rsquo;ll compete with fewer UK-based classmates and have less day-to-day access to recruiters.
For MBB London, the reality is tough. Even at LBS, only a handful get in each year &mdash; usually those with top academics, consulting internships, and strong interview performance.
Tier 2 consulting is more realistic for both, but LBS students have more visibility during UK application cycles. Think Monitor Deloitte, EY-Parthenon, Roland Berger.
One edge INSEAD has is  some MiM grads start in consulting roles in Asia or the Middle East first, then move to London after gaining a year or two of experience.

Location matters ,  not just for applying, but for getting noticed.

LBS MiM is generally considered stronger than INSEAD MiM specifically for consulting jobs in London. The biggest reason is proximity , LBS is based in the city, and students have ongoing access to networking events, firm presentations, and alumni working at MBB and Tier 2 firms right in London.
Most LBS MiM grads aiming for consulting actively recruit for London roles, while INSEAD MiM students are split across France, Singapore, and other locations. That makes LBS more focused in terms of UK placement. McKinsey, BCG, and Bain do recruit from both, but LBS tends to have a stronger pipeline into London-based consulting roles, especially in Tier 2 firms like Oliver Wyman, Strategy&, and LEK.
It&rsquo;s still very hard to get into MBB London. But LBS students get more chances to meet recruiters and prepare for interviews through on-campus sessions and alumni events, which can help a lot.
