Doing an MFin in the USA after a BCom and CFA Level 1 can be worth it,  if the goal is front-office finance roles or breaking into global markets.
Top MFin programs like MIT, USC Marshall, or Columbia are designed to deepen technical finance skills (quant, modeling, portfolio theory) that go beyond CFA Level 1. Employers in the US , especially in investment banking, asset management, and fintech ,  often look for candidates with US degrees for regulatory and visa-related reasons.
What helps is that a CFA Level 1 signals commitment, but it won&rsquo;t replace the internship access and alumni network an MFin provides. Also, MFin programs at top schools often report starting salaries around $85K&ndash;$110K, and international students can stay up to 3 years on STEM OPT.
