The straight and to this question is YES. IELTS and GRE are basically one of the most important things you need for studying abroad. It's not just any test exams. The universities in all countries specifically mention this thing on their official websites along with the scores and other things.

It's not like you can skip one of them to get admission in a foreign university. There is some flexibility but it's not like you can avoid it. And even if you do, you are left with limited options from a university perspective. If you ask any study abroad expert, they will say the same things. IELTS and GRE are basically of the the two tests that you need for abroad education

IELTS is an English language test that has many alternatives. If you don't like IELTS, you can always give TOEFL or PTE exams. Abroad universities accept these as well as language tests. Some universities do not ask for IELTS (flexibility that I talked about), however, they have their own English language test that you have to take later on. Therefore, one way or another, you have to go through with a  language test.

Just like IELTS, GRE also has an alternative that is GMAT. However the latter is designed for business courses. So if you are interested in programs like MBA, MIM, MFin then GMAT would be much better. You also get some flexibility here. Few universities abroad do  not require GRE/GMAT test scores, but again there are few of them. If you are spending money, you don’t want to be limited with free university choices, do you?

An IELTS score of 7.0 band is considered good while GRE 320 can be seen a s a good score. Based on the university you choose, it can differentiate like a bigger university will require a bigger score. Anyway let me know if this helped you or not. If you have any more doubts, just ask me.

No, the IELTS or GRE exam is not necessary for every country.

The requirement depends on the country, university, and the specific program you are applying to.

Where are these exams typically needed?

IELTS (English Proficiency Test):

- Countries like the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand usually require IELTS (or another English test like TOEFL) if English is not your first language.

- Some universities in Europe and Asia may also ask for it, but many do not if you have studied in an English-speaking environment before.

- In some cases, universities waive the IELTS if you have completed previous education in English or have a certain score in other English tests.

GRE (Graduate Record Examination):

- The GRE is mostly required for Master’s and PhD programs in the USA. Some programs in Canada and European countries might also ask for it, but this is less common.

- It is typically necessary for programs related to STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and some business programs like Master’s in Finance or Economics.

- Many universities in Europe, Asia, and Australia do not require the GRE for admission. They focus more on academic performance and other criteria.

Exceptions:

- Some countries, especially in Europe, have universities where neither IELTS nor GRE is needed if you meet specific conditions (like studying in English before).

- For some business schools, the GMAT might be needed instead of the GRE.

You should check the specific requirements of the university and program you are applying to for the most accurate specifications.
