No, you don't need to submit GMAT scores for most Master's in Data Science programs. For example, Northwestern University's Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science program does not require either GRE or GMAT scores for admission; they are entirely optional. Similarly, NYU's Master of Science in Data Science program does not accept GMAT scores at all; the GRE is optional. At the University of Chicago, the Master's in Applied Data Science program does not require the GRE or GMAT, though applicants can submit their scores if they choose.

So, if you're planning to apply to these programs, you can focus on strengthening other parts of your application, such as your academic background, relevant coursework, and practical experience in areas like mathematics, statistics, and computer science. However, if you believe your GRE or GMAT scores can enhance your application, you have the option to include them.

No, you usually don't need to take the GMAT for Data Science. Data Science programs care more about your skills in things like coding and statistics. Instead of the GMAT, they might want to see your GRE scores, any relevant work experience you have, or if you're good at math or computer science. So, while the GMAT might be useful for some programs, it's not something you'd typically need for Data Science. Well, There are many top universities in USA for MS in data science.

You can go through to these universities where GMAT is usually not required. If have an query, feel free write to us.

When advising students interested in data science, we consider a range of factors beyond just GMAT scores. We look at their academic background, relevant coursework, practical experience, and career goals.

For instance, students with a strong background in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields may find programs that don't require GMAT scores but instead focus on technical proficiency and project-based learning.

Moreover, in recent years, there has been a growing trend among institutions to offer alternative pathways for admission, such as submitting GRE scores, showcasing professional certifications, or even providing evidence of relevant work experience in lieu of standardized tests.

No, the GMAT is not required for most MS in Data Science programs. These degrees are technical in nature, so schools usually don’t ask for a business-focused test like the GMAT.

If any test is needed, it’s more commonly the GRE, and even that is waived or optional at many universities like Columbia, USC, NYU, and University of Washington.

Instead of GMAT scores, programs evaluate your quantitative and technical readiness—this includes your performance in subjects like math, programming, and statistics, as well as experience with tools like Python, R, or SQL.

Always check the program’s official requirements, as policies vary by university.
