The Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship, designed as a two-year cohort model, offers both undergraduate and graduate fellowships. The application for the 2023 cohort is open September 12, 2022, thru February 3, 2023. Fellows chosen for the 2023 cohort will begin their two-year fellowship in fall 2023 and complete the fellowship in summer season 2025.
To be eligible to apply for the 2023 cohort, you ought to meet all the criteria below:
Be a U.S. citizen
Be enrolled full-time in an IT-related bachelor’s diploma software or in search of admission in an IT-related master’s diploma application at a U.S.-based approved institution
Be on a timeline to graduate with your bachelor’s or master’s degree in spring 2025 whilst enrolled full-time for spring and fall semesters*
Hold a minimal 3.2 GPA on a four scale at the time of the application, and preserve this GPA in the course of the program
As a selected fellow, you will need to:
Obtain and hold clinical and security clearances and suitability requirements
Agree to a five-year commitment with the Foreign Service upon successful completion of the application and the State Department’s requirements
Women, participants of minority organizations traditionally underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and those with monetary need, are prompted to apply.
To be on the timeline for the undergraduate fellowship, you want to earn your bachelor’s diploma (or your blended bachelor’s and master’s diploma in an accelerated program) after attending 4 full-time (spring and fall) semesters opening fall 2023. To be on the timeline for the graduate fellowship, you would want to enter a full-time master’s diploma software in fall 2023 and earn your degree after attending 4 full-time (spring and fall) semesters opening fall 2023.
