Most people kill their 700+ chances by doing these things in week one, don&rsquo;t be one of them.

Don&rsquo;t underestimate the Data Insights section; it includes question types like multi-source reasoning, where you have to compare info across two tabs under strict time constraints. Without practice, it&rsquo;s easy to waste time here.
Many skip learning how questions are framed, GMAT wording is tricky, and missing a single keyword can change the whole answer.
Using too many prep resources at once leads to confusion. Stick to one or two reliable platforms.
Ignoring error notes is a missed opportunity. Note every mistake, why it happened, and what you&rsquo;ll do differently next time.
Starting timing practice too late is risky; build timing and accuracy together from week one.

The first and the biggest common mistake you should avoid  is treating GMAT like a college exam. It&rsquo;s not just about formulas&mdash;it tests how you think. People waste time trying to &ldquo;study everything,&rdquo; but this test rewards logic, not memorization. Especially in Quant, knowing how to solve is more important than knowing every rule.
Another issue is ignoring official GMAT Focus mocks. These show your performance by skill area (like Algebra or Geometry), which helps target your weak spots early. Skipping these makes it harder to track progress properly.
Also, don&rsquo;t push through long study sessions without reflection. Just solving 50 questions a day won&rsquo;t help if you&rsquo;re not reviewing why you got things wrong. Focus on error patterns, not just scores.
