If I’ve prepared for CAT Quant, is it enough for GMAT Quant too?

CAT Quant prep covers most of the topics tested on the GMAT, so the concept base is definitely strong enough. But GMAT Quant (especially in the Focus Edition) isn&rsquo;t just about solving ,  it&rsquo;s about solving cleanly, without heavy calculation, and under an adaptive format. That&rsquo;s where the shift happens.
CAT pushes speed and tricky problem framing. GMAT is more logic-first. If someone&rsquo;s used to solving hard CAT-level questions, GMAT questions might feel easier at first, but Data Sufficiency changes everything. It&rsquo;s not about getting to the final answer &mdash; it&rsquo;s about knowing when the answer can be determined, which requires a different mindset.
Also, GMAT penalizes careless errors more because of the adaptive nature. Getting a few early questions wrong can drop the score fast. So even if CAT Quant is done well, GMAT still needs at least 2&ndash;3 weeks of format-specific practice to avoid losing marks on easy but technical mistakes.
