I want to move into consulting after Executive MBA. Which is better between IIM Ahmedabad PGPX and IIM Bangalore EPGP?

Well for consulting roles IIM Ahmedabad has a slight edge over IIM Banglore. As per the official placement reports, IIMA PGPX places a larger share of its class into top consulting firms like McKinsey, Bain, BCG, and Accenture. In recent years, 25–30% of the PGPX batch moved into consulting.
IIM Bangalore’s EPGP also sees good consulting placements, but the share is slightly smaller. Around 15–20% of the class gets placed in consulting, with firms like Deloitte, EY, and PwC being common recruiters. The overall package is comparable, but IIMA has stronger historical ties with MBB firms.
Class size and peer profile are other factors. IIMA PGPX has a larger batch and attracts professionals with stronger domain experience, which can help you in case-based learning and networking. Both programs last one year and require a valid GMAT or GRE score, with IIMA preferring a slightly higher average GMAT (700+).
Both are strong programs but your final choice can also depend on your location, fit with faculty, and career support preferences.

Consulting placements are stronger at IIM Ahmedabad PGPX than at IIM Bangalore EPGP so considering that you should choose IIM-A.According to IIMA’s official PGPX placement report, nearly 30% of the batch enters consulting roles, including top firms like McKinsey, BCG, Bain, and Kearney. This shows a clear trend of top-tier consulting firms consistently hiring from IIMA.
IIM Bangalore’s EPGP also sees consulting offers, but the numbers are slightly lower. Based on their 2023 report, about 18–20% of the batch joined consulting, with firms like PwC, Deloitte, and EY being regular recruiters. Roles are often in strategy, digital consulting, or transformation projects.
IIMA PGPX typically reports higher average salaries as well, often crossing ₹35–40 LPA in consulting roles, while EPGP salaries are competitive but slightly lower on average. Both programs are one-year, full-time residential courses and require work experience and a GMAT/GRE score.
That said, both programs are highly respected but the right choice also depends on your location, goals, and the kind of consulting role you’re aiming for.
