International applicants must take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), an English medium exam if they want to enroll in the best universities overseas where English is the major language of instruction. The exam mainly gauges how well candidates can use the four basic English language skills: speaking, reading, listening, and writing. IELTS scores range from 1 to 9 on a scale.
There are two different IELTS exams: the IELTS Academic exam is for students who wish to pursue further education and career registration abroad, and the IELTS General Test is for people who want to immigrate to important English-speaking countries like Canada, Australia, and the UK. Anyone over the age of 16 may take the IELTS exam. It is given several times a year, and applicants to any program at prestigious international universities must submit their scores to be considered.
IELTS is an exam that is widely accepted, and you can almost certainly get into the institutions you want if you do well on it. A strong IELTS score will be your biggest asset if you wish to enroll in one of the best universities. Given that this is one of your most important life decisions, we understand how important it is for you to make the best choice you can now.
To be admitted to Canadian institutions, students must meet minimal band criteria. The Canadian colleges that receive six IELTS bands are as follows:
- Durham College (IELTS score: 5-6)
- HEC Montreal (IELTS score: 5- 6)
- The University of British Columbia (IELTS score: 5-6.5)
- McGill University (IELTS score: 5-6.5)
- McMaster University (IELTS score: 5-6.5)
- Charles Sturt University (IELTS score:5- 6)
- The University of Alberta (IELTS score: 5-6.5)
- The University of Waterloo  (IELTS score:5- 6.)
- Acadia University (IELTS score: 5-6.5)
- The University of Toronto (IELTS score: 5-7)
An applicant must obtain a minimum score for admission to most universities. IELTS scores in the range of 6.5 to 7.0 will have no issue getting an applicant into these institutions.
