A 6.0 overall band score with a minimum of 5.5 in each module is generally considered the minimum required to be considered for undergraduate study at universities in Australia. However, specific universities and programs may have higher requirements.

Additionally, having no gap in your scores can be beneficial, but it is not the only factor considered during the application process. You should check with individual universities to see if you meet their specific requirements.

There are many universities in Australia, some of the most well-known and reputable include:

  1. Australian National University
  2. University of Melbourne
  3. University of Sydney
  4. University of Queensland
  5. Monash University
  6. University of New South Wales
  7. University of Western Australia
  8. University of Adelaide
  9. University of Technology, Sydney
  10. University of Wollongong

This is not an exhaustive list, and there are many other universities in Australia that offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

Eligibility criteria for universities in Australia can vary depending on the institution and the program of study. However, some general requirements that are common across most universities and programs include:

Completion of secondary education: Most universities require applicants to have completed high school and have a recognized secondary school qualification such as the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE) or the equivalent from another country.

English language proficiency: Most universities in Australia require applicants to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency in the English language. This can be done through standardized tests such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Minimum academic qualifications: Most universities have minimum academic requirements that applicants must meet, such as a certain grade point average (GPA) or a minimum score on a standardized test like the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Testing (ACT) examination.

  1. Prerequisite subjects: Some programs of study have specific prerequisite subjects that applicants must have completed in order to be eligible to apply.
  2. Work experience: Some universities and programs may require applicants to have relevant work experience, or have completed internships or other forms of practical training.

I hope this answers your question. Feel free to ask any questions or leave a comment below if you have any further queries.

An overall IELTS score of 6.0 is generally acceptable for Australian universities, but the 5.5 in individual modules might limit your options. However, some institutions like Charles Sturt University and Federation University offer pathway programs that include additional English training to help bridge any gaps. These could be viable options for ensuring your success in meeting the linguistic demands of your chosen course.
