Students with a non-business undergraduate degree plus a business minor, or its equivalent, can obtain the rigorous business management training you expect in a top MBA programme by enrolling in the STEM-designated MPS in Management programme.

The one-year graduate degree programme in STEM will give you the business knowledge you need to stand out and advance in your job. The MPS in Management programme at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management offers a core business curriculum with the freedom to customise your education to fit your interests through electives.

The curriculum for the MPS in Management is designed to provide the whole spectrum of business-related disciplines over one year at a graduate speed. The Master of Management degree at Cornell is best suited for people who want to grow or are just starting out in their careers and have a business minor.

The following requirements must be satisfied by applicants to the Masters in Management programme:

For Cornell students:

  • Completion of Bachelor's Degree
  • Completion of the Cornell Undergraduate Business Minor
  • GMAT (preferred) / GRE (accepted)*

For Students outside of Cornell:

  • Completion of Bachelor's Degree
  • Coursework will be evaluated to determine equivalency to the Cornell Business Minor
  • GMAT (preferred) / GRE (accepted)

With the achievement of a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA, Cornellians who graduated within the last two years with a business minor will be exempt from the application fee and exam requirements.

Application dates for the MPS in Management programme: To be considered in a round, applicants must submit all required materials by the deadline indicated for that round. Incomplete applications won't be reviewed.

Round One: December 1
Round Two: January 15
Round Three: March 1
Round Four: April 15

Applications will be accepted and examined individually after round deadlines.

The Cornell MPS in Management Program is designed to welcome students from various academic backgrounds, including engineering. While having a business minor can be beneficial, it is not necessarily a requirement for admission to the program.

What matters most is demonstrating your readiness and aptitude for graduate-level study in management. Admissions committees typically look for candidates who possess strong analytical skills, leadership potential, and a genuine interest in the field of management.

As an engineering graduate, you likely already have many of the skills and qualities that are valued in the program, such as problem-solving abilities, quantitative reasoning, and technical expertise. Highlighting these strengths in your application can strengthen your candidacy.

If you have taken any relevant business or management courses during your undergraduate studies, be sure to mention them in your application. Additionally, consider how your engineering background uniquely positions you to contribute to the field of management and mention this in your statement or statement of purpose.

Before applying, carefully review the program's eligibility criteria and application requirements to ensure that you meet all the necessary qualifications. If you have any specific questions about your eligibility or the application process, don't hesitate to reach out to the admissions office for clarification.
