Hi Daisy,

Yes, you may be eligible for a PG (Master’s) program in the USA, but it depends on university policies. Some universities accept 3-year Indian bachelor's degrees, while others require 16 years of education. You should get your degree evaluated by WES, ECE, or a NACES-approved agency to check equivalency.

Here are some key steps:

→ Check university requirements thoroughly
→ Get your degree evaluated
→ Take the English proficiency test required and the GRE/GMAT if needed
→ Strong work experience & SOP can compensate for education gaps

Navigating the admission process, credential evaluation and university selection can be complex, however, the right guidance can make it seamless. With the consultancy of a study abroad expert, you can find universities that recognize your qualifications and maximize your chances of securing admission.

Your situation is unique, but you can still apply for a postgraduate degree in the USA. Many universities accept degrees from open universities, but the challenge is that some may require a traditional 12th-grade education.

Since you completed a three-year BA from the University of Madras, the key will be to check if the universities you’re interested in recognize your degree as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's. Some schools prefer a four-year degree, but many accept three-year degrees, especially from recognized universities in India.

Your best step is to shortlist programs and contact their admissions offices to confirm eligibility. You may also need to take standardized tests like the GRE or GMAT, depending on the course you choose. If any university requires extra coursework, you could consider doing a one-year postgraduate diploma in India before applying. Don’t let your past education gaps hold you back many students with non-traditional backgrounds successfully get into PG programs in the USA.
