While a technical degree is advantageous, you can also pursue a rewarding career in data science with a non-technical background. While specialized technical courses are available to those with a technical background, the situation may differ for those with a non-technical (non-engineering) background. At the same time, given the gap between existing and desired skills, it will take some time before a non-technologist finds a perfect fit in the data science market.
