Most people overthink the LBS essay, but it’s really about answering two things: what’s the plan, and why LBS?
Here’s what helps:
- Focus on clarity. A goal like “join a tech firm’s product team in Europe post-MBA” gives direction.
- Make the link to LBS practical. Mention specific clubs, electives, or how London’s location supports your career plan.
- If using an example, keep it grounded. Instead of saying “led a team of 50,” talk about solving a messy process that saved time or money.
- For the “contribution” essay, avoid generic traits like “hardworking.” Share something real—maybe you run a community finance workshop or mentor college grads.
Always read the essay out loud before submitting. If it sounds like something from a corporate website, it probably needs editing.
