The process to request a GMAT waiver depends entirely on the school, but most of them follow a similar structure. First, check if the school actually offers waivers, some, like Wharton or INSEAD, don’t at all. If they do, go to their MBA admissions page and look for a waiver request form or instructions.

Most schools ask for a written statement explaining why you’re academically and professionally prepared to succeed without the test. Include details like your master’s degree (if applicable), GPA, quant-heavy coursework (e.g., statistics, economics), and any certifications like CFA or CPA. Mention relevant work experience, especially roles with data, financial analysis, or leadership.

Submit the request before or alongside your application, depending on what the school asks. Don’t assume it’s approved unless you hear back, it’s reviewed case by case.
