The reading test is a significant part of IELTS or any English proficiency test, and it is an area where the students can score good marks through diligent practice and dedication. IELTS is the most popular test among all to study abroad, with over three types of text, 40 questions, and 11 tasks to be done; the IELTS Reading test is also about reading fast, and retaining as much information as possible while analyzing the same time. With such high stakes, you will excel at this section to come closer to your dream of studying abroad.

Here are some habits you can adapt to increase your reading skills -

1. SKIM & SCAN

Rather than reading in large chunks, try to adopt the habit of skimming and scanning through the paragraphs to get a gest of the whole topic. This habit is highly recommended by IELTS and other English proficiency test experts.

2. DEVELOP VOCABULARY

Knowing the real use of words and vocabulary is very important to understand the questions and texts. Focus on learning new words and using them side by side rather than cramming them.

3. PRACTICE MORE & MORE

Try to read from different resources like academic textbooks and journals to enhance your reading habits and learn more about new topics and issues plus, it will increase your reading speed which is essential to manage your time during any test.

4. ENHANCE GRAMMAR SKILLS

There are questions in which you’ll be required to complete sentences or do a summary completion that requires you to have perfect grammar to fit the answers correctly. Knowing the basic grammar rules and bringing them into practice is what candidates must do.

5. BE READY TO TACKLE COMPLICATED PASSAGES

Try reading newspaper articles and magazine journals for this. Deal with complicated passages during your preparation and make it a daily habit if possible, as it will help you a lot to tackle any kind of question on a variety of topics and will help you manage stress at the time of the exam.
