Well there’s no point denying that an upGrad PG Diploma course like data science is quite good. Some students who are not much interested in going to a foreign location for a degree in data science are opting for this one. Though I won’t stress on this point that much. The reason is simple.

Of course the program is good. upGrad basically brings online certificate course options from many foreign universities. However, it is limited to the ones that they are connected with. So instead of choosing from all the options, you are limited to ones that are given. I would suggest a standard full-time course in data scone in a university abroad.

I mean a data science pg diploma from upGrad will sure look nice on your resume. It is more than an asset. But a full-time MS in Data Science will not just make your entire profile, it will also open doors for you to work in multiple developed locations. With an online certified degree, you are somewhat limited. Even if you are satisfied now, what makes sure that later on you won’t be interested more?

Take annual salary as an example. UpGrad salaries in India basically revolve around 5-10 lakhs for basic jobs. If you look at the executive jobs, you can see an annual salary of 15 lakhs or even around 20 lakhs in total. These positions are mostly managerial ones at significant organizations. However, compared to a full-time data science graduate from a quality university from abroad, this figure looks unmatched.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics The average data scientist salary is $100,560. It is equivalent to around 7 lakhs in Indian currency. This doesn’t even reflect the top earners there. So again, I believe you will be much satisfied with a full-time course in data science abroad.

Now, someone can argue that based on the investment, it is not that different. But this makes no sense. Because even comparing ratio-wise, an MS in Data Science from abroad is still better. Plus it’s not all about the salary. You get to work in a global market with more career options. Plus there are scholarships and education loans that help to manage your expenses.

So, if you need more information on how to apply abroad, what exams you need, what documents are necessary let me know, or simply just contact the experts here. They can analyze your profile and give you the best options.
