Yes, the colleges in Canada are among the top ones globally and globally recognised. Now, coming back to your question, you can study in Canada with an IELTS score of 5.5. Many colleges accept such IELTS scores; additionally, certain universities may offer an IELTS waiver in which you do not have to write an IELTS, which is unnecessary. When it comes to visa rejection, visa officers barely consider IELTS scores. It mostly serves universities. So, if you receive admission letters from any recognised Canadian university. Then you don't have to be concerned about your poor IELTS score. However, many additional factors can cause your visa to be rejected, and here is where you should focus after receiving an acceptance letter. If you obtain a 6 band with a 5.5 in writing, your file will be termed a Non-SDS file, which has a greater rejection rate than an SDS file. So I would recommend retaking IELTS and scoring at least 6.5 and no less than 6.0 in any module. IELTS academic band of 6 overall with no band less than 5.5 is sufficient for admission to Diploma/Advanced Diploma programmes; however, if you intend to pursue a PG Diploma or Masters, you must retake the exam and obtain a minimum of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6. If you have any further questions just ask me.
