For those who scored 165+ in GRE Quant, how many questions did you get wrong?

I remember being surprised when I got a 166 in GRE Quant even after getting two questions wrong. The scoring isn&rsquo;t just about the total number wrong, it also depends on which questions you miss and where they appear in the section.
Both of my mistakes were in the middle, not in the first few or last few, which I think helped. I also noticed that numeric entry questions feel riskier&mdash;there&rsquo;s no safety net with answer choices, so even a small slip can cost more.
What worked for me was flagging any question that felt off and revisiting it with fresh eyes. I ended up correcting one of them in the final two minutes. It wasn&rsquo;t a speed game&mdash;it was about staying calm and minimizing careless errors.
So yeah, even with a couple of wrong answers, a 165+ is still very possible if the rest of your section is solid.

When I scored 167 in GRE Quant, I got one question wrong. GRE Quant isn&rsquo;t about getting everything perfect&mdash;it&rsquo;s about how many you can get right without making careless mistakes. Even one wrong question can still land a 166&ndash;167 if the rest are clean.
I used the ETS PowerPrep practice tests as a benchmark. On those, I usually missed 0&ndash;2 questions, and my final score reflected that. What helped was slowing down in the last five questions and double-checking numeric entry ones. Those tend to be unforgiving.
Also, I didn&rsquo;t focus on speed like in CAT. I focused on not making silly calculation errors. The GRE rewards clean solving over fast solving. If you're aiming 165+, you can afford to be 10% slower as long as you're accurate.
