There is a myth that Duolingo is easier than its counterparts like IELTS and TOEFL. It is also designed to assess good language skills just as both the other exams are designed to do.
Duolingo is globally recognized by over 1000 institutes in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, China, Japan, Qatar, Thailand and other European countries and coming to Australia specifically, the Duolingo test is widely accepted by more than 500 universities across Australia. I have created a list of the top universities that you can consider:

JMC Academy

Melbourne Institute of Technology

Kaplan Business School

This is a general university list where the Duolingo test is accepted. There are a lot more universities that you can apply to but all that depends on your profile and the course that you wish to pursue. 
You need to find universities that provide the course that you are interested in as well as align with your profile.
