Can I apply for MFin right after graduation or do I need work experience?

Most people think a finance master’s means needing years of banking experience. That’s not true for a lot of MFin programs today.
• Schools like MIT, LBS, and HEC Paris offer pre-experience tracks meant for students with less than one year of full-time work.
• Instead of job history, they focus on coursework in finance, economics, or applied math, and internships in investment banking, valuation, or corporate finance roles.
• Participation in CFA Research Challenge, finance clubs, or stock pitch competitions adds more weight than just a minor internship.
• A clear goal , for example, wanting to work in asset management or corporate finance , shows direction and maturity.
• Talking to recent grads who entered right after college , through LinkedIn or even Reddit MBA/Finance threads, can reveal what actually stood out in their apps.
Letters from professors who taught subjects like financial markets or econometrics often carry more weight than one from a short-term internship manager.
