You don’t need a GMAT to apply for the ESSEC MiM, but you do need to submit one of the accepted test scores. ESSEC allows you to apply with GRE, CAT, GMAT, or Tage-Mage, and treats all of them equally in the evaluation process. If you're submitting the GRE, aim for a score of 310 or higher to remain competitive. For the CAT, scores from recent years are accepted, and generally, a 90+ percentile strengthens your case.

One helpful point is that ESSEC doesn’t favor one test over another—it’s about how well you perform on whichever test you choose. If the rest of your application—like academics, internships, and a motivation letter—is strong, a non-GMAT route won’t hurt your chances. Just make sure the test score aligns with the overall strength of your profile.
