It requires a stable internet connection and specific hardware, such as a working camera and microphone. Any technical issue that may arise during the actual test, such as a connection break, can cause a test to stall and even nullify the result, so this creates that much-added stress to just get everything right.
Another disadvantage is that one becomes more easily distracted or becomes uncomfortable sitting at home, especially when one is not living alone or someone does keep visiting you for anything. One has this constant monitoring from a webcam because one has a proctor assigned to follow every movement done by him. For breaks, it's always done formally like in an official test center. So if a candidate feels that all of that technology and the necessity to have such a monitoring system could make them uncomfortable in giving the exam, better they go to a test center instead.
