This is nothing but a pure myth. The whole purpose of giving students the option to give the home-based exam is to ease it out for them and if universities would not accept that score then what’s even the point, right?
So, all universities that accept a GRE score, accept both, centre-based as well as home-based test results for the same.

At the time of the pandemic it was common for the universities to accept GRE at home. At the current situation the criteria must have changed. However, in the United States still there are universities that accept the GRE at home.
As per my last update of January 2022 the universities that accept GRE at home are as follows:
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
- Stanford University
- Harvard University
- University of California, Berkeley
- Princeton University
- University of Michigan

As per my knowledge, till January 2022, as the response to COVID-19 many universities accepted GRE at home. But the following criteria has changed for now. There might be some universities that now allow the same. For that you need to check the GRE requirements and the GRE test criteria of the particular university and the program you are applying for.Â

Yes, indeed!Â
The GRE at home option has gained significant recognition among universities worldwide. Many institutions have adapted their admission policies to accept scores from the at-home version of the GRE.Â
This flexibility has opened up new opportunities for students who may find it challenging to access traditional test centers or prefer the convenience of taking the exam from home. As a guide, I highly recommend considering the at-home GRE option, especially if it aligns with your preferences and circumstances.Â
