I also used to think consultants were only for people with weaker profiles but that&rsquo;s not true. One of my friends from IIT had a strong profile and still took help from a consultant for his mba applications. His main issue was putting his achievements into a clear story and that&rsquo;s where the consultant helped. My own profile wasnt weak either but i still found their support useful for essays and mock interviews. So yes both strong and average profiles use consultants it just depends on what kind of help you need.

Consultants arent just for people with weak profiles. I know seniors who had really  good backgrounds like high gmat scores and experience at big companies and they still worked with consultants. The reason is different though. They already had strong profiles  but they wanted help in polishing essays choosing the right schools and preparing for interviews. Even with a good profile presenting it properly matters and thats where consultants add value.
