Eligibility Requirements for Deakin Master of Information Systems

  • Depending on your previous qualifications and professional experience, your course will be 1, 1.5, or 2 years.
    • one year full-time (2 years part-time) – 8 credit points.
    • 1.5 years full-time (3 years part-time) – 12 credit points.
    • two years full-time (4 years part-time) – 16 credit points.
  • A related discipline award from this course is a Bachelor of Information Systems or in a related ICT discipline with an Information Systems major/minor or specialization in Information Systems. Relevant work experience is professional work experience in either Information Systems in a position with responsibilities in an Information Systems related field.
  • TOEFL Marks - 79/120, Writing 21
  • PTE Marks - 58/90, No score less than 50
  • IELTS Marks - 6.5/9, No band less than 6.0.

Deakin Master of Information Systems Program Description

The Master of Information Systems has been developed in response to the rapid growth in the use of information systems and eBusiness applications by businesses and governments internationally. The mass adoption of social media, the advances of new technologies, and the accumulation of large amounts of data have made information central to many aspects of work and life. The course provides specialist skills in business-oriented principles and practices of information systems and eBusiness. It focuses on the strategic use of information in a business and policy context, supported by a sound technical understanding and capability in specific areas of information systems, particularly information security, supply chain management, and project management.

The course will give students an understanding of the principles and practices of stakeholder analysis, identification of business needs, problems and opportunities, analysis, negotiation, and specification of requirements for any solution that may involve a technology-inspired change. Students will learn quantitative reasoning skills to review business performance to find problems, areas of opportunities, and trends in data using business analytics. Students will learn data-driven, evidence-based approaches to business decision-making and business performance analysis, and they will get an understanding of business metrics.
